Ryan Slesinger, PhD.

Welcome to my home on the internet. Click the button below for information on my upcoming course at Oklahoma State’s Doel Reed Center in Taos, NM:

I am a literature PhD focusing on nineteenth and twentieth century American literature. My work draws from American Studies, Religious Studies, and other adjacent fields. I study and teach multicultural literature because I believe that America is a conversation between multiple, dissimilar, and sometimes contestatory voices. To understand that conversation, we must engage with all the voices involved in it. In my scholarship and pedagogy I reflect that conversation to my audience and add to it through annotation and explication. I am currently appointed as a Teaching Assistant Professor of English at Oklahoma State University.

My book project—Mystic America—addresses the trend of literary mysticism in the works of five twentieth-century American novelists: John Steinbeck, Jack Kerouac, Rudolfo Anaya, Leslie Marmon Silko, and Toni Morrison.
